• Armed Assault Preparation..
07 May 06

Earlier this week I announced on the forums that due to many circumstances SASMOD would cancel all further development of addons for VBS1 and, as of now I am going to only concentrate on work for the upcoming title Armed Assault (ArmA). Over the next few weeks you should see the website and forums change slightly to include ArmA content.

As I still feel much loyalty to the VBS1 community, and because VBS1 is still such a fantastic product, most VBS1 content such as links and news will remain on the site as will my VBS1 downloads.

I would like to thanks again the VBS1 community for being so supportive over the last year - you are all still more than welcome here at SASMOD.

Can I just mention again that I am STILL recruiting for people who are seriously looking to be involved in the SASMOD Project. Please visit our recruitment page for more information.

I will be taking some time off now and concentrating on learning some new skills ready for when ArmA is released. Hopefully having a larger community to appeal to, our team should grow and be able to release some quality addons.

Please feel free to register on out forums and make suggestions or comments - or just catch up on what weve been doing over the last year. I update the webpage rarely but, the forums will keep people updated on our progress and also news of ArmA developement. I look forward to seeing you there.

As always thanks for your continued support,

-JB

After updating the CD labels pack last week, I decided that an updated cover pack was also on the cards (with a little encouragement from W0lle).

• Sitrep..
03 Mar 06

Just a quick sitrep regarding SASMOD.

We are now a few months into 2006 and its not been too bright as far as the addons are concerned. I have not been able to dedicate anywhere near as much time as I would like to the project.

Due to lack of real time and some problems, Phantom Island is running well being schedule and I have got a fair bit of re-organising to do to get it back on track. However, fear not -this island will hit the downloads section, even if it kills me

Another major change I have decided on is the units I will be covering, I am now only going to concentrate on UK Special forces, this will include:

• Special Air Service (UK Only)
• Special Boat Service
• Special Reconnaissance Regiment
• Joint Special Forces Support Group

I was being unrealistic to think I could cover three armies worth of special forces with the time and manpower available. This way at least most equipment and uniform will be transferable from one to unit to another saving me lots of time.

I spent a few hours last night designing a new header for the site removing all non-UK material, Im quite happy with the outcome for the minimal time I spent on it. Hope you are all happy with it.

Can I also please remind you all that I am still desperatley short of determined people to work here in various roles. If you are interested in helping out please see our recruitment page.

On a final note, thank you all once again for you continued support as always.

Best regards

-JB

• Merry Christmas from SASMOD..
11 Dec 05

I would like to take this chance to wish the VBS1 community a very merry christmas.

All your support upto now has been brilliant and well recieved and I personally look forward to getting our first addons released early in the new year.

In particular I would like to thank the small team I have (Tug, Smiling Assassin) for thier hard work so far and thank our partners at POPO and VBS1.info for thier continued support.

My thanks go out to all who have helped us out in one way or another over the months especially Buggs who has been an absolute fountain of information for me regarding island creation.

Hopefull 2006 will see me going some way to giving back to this small but dedicated community by way of addon releases.

Cheers, have a good one

• We Are Recruiting!!!
25 Sep 05

Thats right, As I can only spend a few hours a week on the addons due to a busy personal life I have decided to throw the doors open to willing applicants who can help me out with current and future addons.

Dont worry SASMOD hasnt died, and will not die as long as there are people out there who want to see the worlds most feared special forces unit appear in VBS1.

More details can be found on the recruitment page or alternativley visit the forums.

I look forward to getting an enthusiastic team together and speeding up the SASMOD releases.

• Special Reconnaissance Regiment..
23 May 05

The Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) is Britains newley formed elité regiment. Officialy operational since the 6th April 2005, the unit will recruit men and women from all three services and will swallow up other intelligence gathering units like 14 Intelligence company.

Its role will be covert surveillance, freeing up members of the SAS to deal with other missions. One task of the SAS the elimination of terrorists targets - essentially the SRR will provide them with the targets.

The special nature of SRR means it will become part of the Special Forces group.

I have no doubt that Special Reconnaissance Regiment units will probably find thier way onto our addon page in the future

• Unofficial CD/DVD Covers..
23 May 05

Many people like myself download addon modules from BIA and personally burn them to CD/DVD. Unfortunately there are no official covers available to print onto them once written.

I decided to spruce up my personal collection and make them available to the VBS1 community.

I will update the pack as and when new modules are released

Module CD Covers:

• ADF1
• ADF2
• Animal1
• Observer2.0
• OPFOR1
• Special Forces1
• Terrain Pack1
• Terrain Pack2
• USMC1

Various Other Covers:

• ModuleCD (for your full collection of modules on 1 CD)
• ModuleDVD (for your full collection of modules on 1 DVD)
• ResourceCD (for your addons, resources and patches backup CD)
• ScenarioCD (for your missions backup CD)

You can download the pack from our downloads page or from the official resource site.

• Map Symbol Packs 1 & 2 Updated..
08 May 05

Some people will already have the UKSP Nato map symbol packs downloaded from the official resource site. You can now download the slightly updated versions here.

Because UKSP no longer exists and SASMOD offically own all UKSP addons, I have decided to update the Map Symbol Addons. Its only a small update and is purely aesthetic.

Updates:

• All UKSP logos replaced with SASMOD ones.
• Pbo file name changed to comply with future SASMOD addons.
• Readme file changed to replace reference to UKSP with SASMOD.

Please remove the previous version of the Map Symbols Pack before using this one.

The Packs are available on our downloads page and the official resource site versions will updated shortly.

• Island Progress..
08 May 05

As the Battlefield Terrain Development site attracted very little attention it has unfortunately closed. The good news is SASMOD has taken over their Island project and will continue to work on it. Here are some progress shots of the un-named island..

No doubt this island will be SASMODS first release.

• SASMOD Open For Business..
05 May 05

I am really pleased to announce that SASMOD is now up and running. Again as always, a big thank you to MunkD for hosting us at OFPCentral.

We aim initially to create modern UK SAS add-ons however, in the future we would like to create SASR and NZSAS add-ons.

As this project has just started I am currently a one man army. Once the website is fully complete and running smoothly I will be looking to recruit like minded people to join the team.

Our add-ons are being aimed and designed primarily towards use in VBS1 but If I have people on the team who are willing to convert to OFP then I will be happy to let them do so.

I look forward to speaking to you on the forums.
