In theory SASMOD is a culmination of 3 projects.
My first attempts at modeling was while I was an advisor with Project UK Forces (PUKF). I got to see behind the scenes of what went into creating addons and how dedicated the developers were. I am proud to have had the privelidge of working with them and with such a dedicated team.
UKSP
I started out with my first project in mid 2004 called the UK Sniper Project (UKSP). This project got itself a small but loyal following. It was initially hosted by an advert driven free host however, MunkD soon offered me better hosting at his site OFP Central.
Although UKSP only had two releases it had about another 5 or 6 slowly progressing. The Accuracy International L96A1 sniper rifle being a most wanted amongst many people.
I learned a lot from my time developing addons for UKSP (most of which I soon forgot again)
I closed UKSP down in December 2004 due to time and personal life (or lack of both!).
BATDEV
My next project came in the form of Battlefield Terrain Development (BATDEV).I started this project early in 2005.
I was looking for a project that I could spend slightly less time working on to free up time for my family. I received a tremendous amount of help from Buggs who was always there to answer my questions.
MunkD and OFP Central again came to my rescue and hosted the Site.
I realised too soon after starting BATDEV that in my opinion there was only so many islands I could make. I could throw all my tricks into one good island but then what?
Another factor that made me decide Island creation wasn't the way forward for me was the interest BATDEV generated - none!
I closed BATDEV with its first island very near completion.
SASMOD
It was only a month or two into BATDEV that I decided I needed a new project that I personally had a great interest and knowledge in, why I didn't do this from day one I really don't know.
I decided on a project around the British 22nd Special Air Service. There are very little British addons available for VBS1 and I feel personally that with a lot of hard work I can do the SAS justice. SASMOD was born.
SASMOD started on the 5th May 2005 and has taken over both UKSP and BATDEV projects.
A good omen for me was after searching the length and breadth of the web for an image use as the SASMOD banner I finally decided on one. Later that day I was going through the data3D folder of VBS1 when I found a file containing the exact same image that I was going to use but with the VBS1 logo on. Coincidence or not, it made up my mind.
This is a long term project, I can not throw every spare minute I have into it - and I don't intend to. There is no race to bring an SAS unit into ArmA, if someone does it before me then that's great. I want to this for my own reasons, I want to use addons in ArmA that are exactly what I want to see. And if nothing else I`ll finally release a bloody addon!
* Update 07/05/06: The SASMOD project moved over to creating addons for the upcoming title Armed Assault. All VBS1 projects suspended.

Currently the Project Team is only a small but dedicated one.
JB - With the role of project leader, I am the projects 2D & 3D artist and will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed models. I will also be responsible for creating the projects terrain development. In addition to my primary roles I will also deal with the maintenance of the website and forums. Tug - Took the role as scripter and config writer for SASMOD, he will be aquainting himself with all the new commands ArmA offers to make the our future releases the best we can.
Moskow - A recent addition to the team. He will help with reference and research for our addons ensuring all addons are as accurate as possible.
Emperor_Koch -
Joined us as a2D & 3D artist. Previously lead 3D modeller (for feature film VFX) at MPC (Moving Picture Company) in London and currently Senior Modeller and Texture artist at Cinesite (Golden Compass: HIS DARK MATERIALS by Phillip Pullman).
Red_Rage - The latest addition to our team. Awaiting profile input.

The site design, layout and graphics were done completely by me. I think its probably the best site I have designed so far. I originally based the design loosely on the VBS1 resource site layout. Over the months it has been changed and adapted to best suit our needs. I try to experiment with new things all the time so you may see the site change now and then but, generally I think less is better. I am also completely self taught so I leave all the techy bits alone.
The only two tools I used for the creation of this site (and I recommend them both) were Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0
